COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- Investigators in Columbus County have a major break in two recent murders. Darnell Frink was killed in a shooting after a football game in late September. Delemez Jones was found dead three months later.

Santonio Jenrette is charged with the September murder of Darnell Frink, and in the death of 14-year-old Delamez Jones. Jones went missing in late November. His body was found two and a half weeks later. Jones is also cousins with Santonio Jenrette.

Police believe Jones was killed either because he witnessed, or knew about, the murder of Darnell Frink.

Marquel Hunter is also charged with the death of Delamez Jones. Hunter has already been charged in the murder of Darnell Frink.

Since Santonio Jenrette and Delamez Jones were cousins, today's news is no doubt difficult for the family of the two boys. According to the family, Jenrette and Hunter got Delamez drunk to the point that he became unconscious, or didn't know what was going on before they allegedly killed him.

His mother, Mabalene Moody, says the toxicology report shows Delamez's blood alcohol level at the time of his death at 0.13. Moody and other family members say right after Delamez disappeared they asked Jenrette where the 14-year-old was.

"I said, 'Santonio, have you seen Delamez?' And he couldn't even look at me, and he said, 'No, I haven't,'" Moody said.

Sabrina Vereen is the victim's stepsister.

"He couldn't look me in my face, he couldn't look me in my face and tell me," Vereen said.

While Jenrette is eligible for the death penalty because he is charged with two murders, and allegedly killed a witness to one of them, the family says they would rather him be sentenced to life in prison. Furthermore, the family says if Jenrette is convicted of the crime, they would like a picture of Delamez hung in Jenrette's jail cell so he can think about and remember what he did.

Eye for an eye

They had no mercy on those two boys. Like the Bible says an eye for an eye. They both should get the death penalty, that is really the easy way out. They really should suffer like their victims. If our judicial system was a little tougher on these gang members and thugs I think we would see less problems and less gang activities.

no mercy

Anyone who had anything to do with what happened on september 21,2007 needs to be put to death. They don't even deserve to live their life behind bars. Darnell didn't deserve to be shot and left on the pavement like trash. He was someone special, and a lot of people are missing him! Darnell needs justice for his death, and he will get it!

SEE HIS FACE EVERYWHERE!!!!!!

God is a forgiving God but I must say I'm not there yet!Putting these "BOYS" TO DEATH WOULD BE TOO EASY.THEY SHOULD LIVE THE REST OF THEIR LIVES BEHIND BARS.IF I HAVE TO MISS MY LOVE ONE I WANT THEM TO MISS THEIRS TOO.I NEED THEM TO KNOW AND REMEMBER THAT,ON THAT DAY NOT ONLY THEIR LIVES WERE CHANGED BUT THEY TOOK THE LIFE OF SOMEOME VERY SPECIAL,AND THAT CHANGED THE LIFE OF THE PEOPLE THAT KNEW AND LOVED HIM.IF I COULD CONTROL THEIR DREAMS THEY WOULD SEE DARNELL'S FACE EVERY TIME THEY CLOSED THEIR EYES!!! IN FACT I WISH I COULD GLUE A PICTURE OF DARNELL INSIDE THEIR EYELIDS!!!!

I PRAY FOR PEACE WITH THE

I PRAY FOR PEACE WITH THE FAMILIES. THE VICTIM WAS JUST A CHILD. ITS REALLY SAD. MY HEART IS WITH THE VICTIMS FAMILY.

what a shame

It saddens me to see two men from my community go to prison. But you have to reap what you sew. I pray for them, and hope God has so kind of mercy upon them, because the judges want. I pray for them and ask God to deliver them from such evil attentions. And let it be a messages to the future, being in a gang is not cool, it's not what you want to do. It's a death trap, and our young generation is going into the grave with it. Both of these boys had the potential to being somebody in life, but through it all away.

scum

FRY them both.

I agree. They did not have

I agree. They did not have an mercy on the little boy!!
