CHAPEL HILL -- A prosecutor says the student body president at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was killed with blasts from a shotgun and a handgun.

District Attorney Jim Woodall says today that's all he can say about the autopsy report released in the death of 22-year-old Eve Carson of Athens, Ga. She was killed March 5 and her body was found in a street near the UNC campus.

The autopsy report released today showed Carson was shot several times, including a shotgun blast to her head. She also was shot in the shoulder and that bullet traveled into her lung and other organs.

Prosecutors have charged two Durham men with murder in Carson's death: 17-year-old Laurence Lovette and 22-year-old Demario Atwater.

Gangs are Tearing up our Young People

Horrible. What threat did this small-framed, unarmed female pose to these gun-wielding THUGS? Shotgun blast to the head? Lord have mercy. I may be wrong in assuming that the two young men being charged with this crime are in a gang, but is likely based on the new and sad statistics. Gangs are tearing up our young people. Black AND white. Parents, have you watched MTV lately? The gang lifestyle is IDEALIZED.Our jails are filling up with young people that have been influenced by this trash. The violence inflicted on Eve Carson, whether gang related or not, was overwhelming. Ask yourself where these young people are learning this. To all of you parents that are active in your child's life and interests, thank you. Our society needs you to do your job. God be with us.

television

I must agree. I NEVER thought i would say this but TV that is directed at teens is asinine. I was flipping channels the other day and paused on one of the music channels and said "No wonder the kids today are so screwed up". The ironic thing is i was a crazy teen myself the one different thing is NONE of us were violent and idolizing TV videos and shows. The internet is worse, its lets them all video themselves and let people see just how stupid they are.

no death penalty...

while it is not allowed for the 17 year old, i bet it is allowed to release this coward into the public and release his location...i bet justice would be served then
