The fact that the two presidential candidates have been in eastern North Carolina within a week of each other underscores how important a battleground our state has become. Newschannel 3’s Steve Rondinaro covered both the McCain and Obama events. There was in-depth coverage when John McCain visited Wilmington. Steve went to Fayetteville Sunday, wanting to get a similar first-hand look at Barack Obama in action. Barack Obama’s soaring oratory inspires a loyal and impassioned following. At times, he assumes a preachers rhythm, sweeping the willing crowd along with him "I think the winds of change are blowing. Not just here in North Carolina, but in Virginia…," said Obama. Barack wear is high fashion at the event in Fayetteville. From t-shirts to buttons all over. There is even a Barack Obama action figure. Retired school principal, Beverly Scott, was at the event wearing Obama earrings and an Obama watch. "It’s time for change," she said. Super star swooning aside, that is the Obama message that is resonating with his supporters; across racial lines and genders. Carrie Bradley of Hope Mills said, "I like with the older adults what he’s going to do about health care." "I like that he’s the father of young children and cares about the future. That’s what it’s all about, the future," said Eileen Donagh of Fayetteville. "I believe he’s a man of his word. I believe he’s going to do what he says he’s going to do," added Fayetteville resident, Herman Gordon. Obama’s early voting message is being heeded here in North Carolina and across the country. The last break-down we saw showed Democrats in the heavy majority of those who have already voted.

Ok, so you have dead parakeets and goldfish registered to vote. PLEASE tell me how they are actually going to show up at the polls and VOTE ???? They aren’t and neither are the thousands of fake people registered by lowlife’s at ACORN or any other place.

  • Das Weibstück

……is only skin deep, that is all she has going for her.

“beautiful soon to be Vice President Sarah Palin” PLEASE…… wouldn’t surprise me if that was the only reason you will vote for McCain cause of Palins beauty and his wife is hot. Small mind.

You say she is smarter than Obama. wow That’s a big NOT !!!

  • Das Weibstück

Some people will not accept fact when it slaps them in the head. Keep reading your back water blogs Tom. It must be nice to be so intellectually superior to all of us Obama supporters. Too bad it is with all your nonsense trivia.

is that too many do not understand how wealth redistribution works. In an effort to clear the air, here is a simplistic example:

“I am looking for someplace to eat lunch as I perform my job throughout the day.

I park my car and notice a homeless man at the parking lot entrance. He holds a sign which reads “Vote Obama, ’08 I need the money”

I go inside the restaurant and notice my waiter is wearing an Obama ’08 tee shirt.

I order lunch; he provides exceptional service.

When I go to pay my check, I tell the waiter I am going to redistribute his tip to someone who has a greater need.

He is sputtering and clearly unhappy. He watches me leave the restaurant. Before I enter my car, I walk over to the homeless man and give him $3.00.

He gets a puzzled look on his face; but then smiles.

In summary, I took the waiter’s hard earned $3.00 tip and gave it to someone who doesn’t work. I made the hard working individual unhappy when the impact of wealth redistribution hit him and took his money. I made the person who does not work happy by giving him money he did not earn.”

I guess this wealth redistribution thing needs more amplificiation if this does not explain on a local level how it could work.

confirmed a birth certificate is on file? That is a big question.

Again, Harry Truman and Ronald Regan were both “doomed” to defeat based on polls and poll taking surveys. Both won.

1948 for Harry Truman — 60 years ago

1980 for Ronald Regan — 28 years ago

At this point, it is too early to call; and a week can make major swings in the polls.

Let the market remain stable for the next few days; let oil prices drop again. That, and folks looking deep at the wealth distribution plan and the costs associated with all of the Obama campaign promises, perhaps enough voters will have an attack of smarts and vote McCain.

You are correct about one thing, a tuxedo really does not fit the island life. Wear one in public after 10 in the evening and you’re probably facing a breathalizer exam if driving. But that’s Island life.

  • Guest6575

    1. The governor of the state of Hawaii has confirmed the fact that Obama’s birth certificate is on record there.

    2. At the very least, Fox News at least would have been all over this story. They unquestionably lean to the right.

    3. Although I certainly am not going to say who is going to win, I believe Obama is more likely to win at this point. The polls are all giving him a victory, and they are almost always accurate. I stress almost – nothing is certain until election day. Or later than that, as the Gore/Bush Florida race showed in 2000.

I don’t own a tux. Wouldn’t fit the Island lifestyle. (I live at Topsail Beach)

  • SurfCityTom

    1. why did he expend so much energy and supporter time in Hawaii to avoid the necessity of presenting a legible birth certificate?

    2. If this were a Republican candidate, you can bet your bippy, the media would be all over it. But this is a Democrat; different set of rules.

    3. Is he likely to win? Not necessarily. Thomas Dewey thought he had Harry Truam beat. Jimmy Carter thought he had Ronald Regan beat. Oil prices continue to drop. Stock market has a major rebounding.

Don’t buy your tux for an Obama inaugural just yet.

  • Guest6575

It doesn’t matter anyway. He was born in Hawaii – this has been confirmed by an independent fact-checking organization. This born in Kenya garbage is just an internet rumor gone wild – embraced by conservative fanatics clinging to any absurd argument that could damage Obama.

Why not stick to real controversies, like maybe Obama’s association with Wright or Ayers? Thise are both real happenings. Or his stance on Iraq or the economy. There are many valid points for conservatives and liberals to argue about. But this birth certificate mess is just silly.

According to numerous opinion polls, McCain’s supporters are losing based on the issues. This leaves them with no options other than smear tactics. Pretty pitiful in my opinion.

  • Guest1636

If my wife (both natural born citizens) and I travel overseas while she is pregnant, and she gives birth in some foreign counrty, our child is also a natural born citizen of the U.S.

  • Guest652487

unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way. read upon the constitutional laws and quit defending him just because you want him to win.

  • Guest6575

Only nut-job conspiracy theorists are giving this rumor serious consideration.

If there were any credibility to this theory, the conservative Fox News would have been all over it 24 hours a day. Even the liberal mainstream media would be talking about it non-stop. This would be too big of a scandal for any news agency to ignore, regardless of their politics.

As ugly as the primaries got, Hillary would have been hammering on this argument too. The McCain campaign would also be having a field day with it too, if they thought there were any truth to it. With their campaign budget, there is no way they would not have researched this issue. Even they have determined there is no truth to it at all. Apparently you guys have more dirt on Obama than the entire GOP could dig up.

As the election draws nearer, and it becomes more likely that Obama will actually win, his detractors are getting desperate in their attempts to attack him.

  • Guest1636

It doesn’t matter where he was born. His mother was a natural born citizen. Therefore, he is too.

  • SurfCityTom

the constitution does spell out some pretty specific items anyone taking the oath of office, for President, must meet. They deal with age, length of residence in country prior to taking office, and being the off-spring of natural citizens not naturalized.

Having said that, one must remember the President takes an oath of office. Part of that oath is to uphold and defend the constitution. That portion of the oath is included in the oath sworn to by anyone entering military service.

Does anyone think John McCain did not think about that oath often while being held in a POW camp in North Vietnam?

The President should lead by example. The last Democratic President certainly danced around, and out right lied, concerning his relationship with an intern. He lied concerning his relationship with a woman while Governor of Arkansas.

And he only escaped conviction at his impeachment trial when a group of Democratic Congressmen banded together and voted that his actions did not constitue crimminal and immoral activity.

But at least he had a clearly legible birth certificate.

That is something Senator Obama has not presented to date.

WHY? Why is that such an issue?

Regardless of whether you agree with his socialistic proposals to steal from the rich and give to those who do not work, we have the right to expect him to meet the Constitutional requirements in order to be President.

Frankly, his failure to comply with a simple request is clear evidence he is thumbing his nose at every citizen who has supported him.

What happens, should he be succesful on November 4, when the results are sent to the Electoral College and Congress?

Think major constitutional crisis. Think President Biden. Think Bull Dog Pelosi being just a heart beat away from the Presidency while a new Vice President is appointed.

What is so hard about providing access to records? We’re not just talking about his borth certificate. He will not authorize the hospital where he claims he was born to release his birth records. He will not allow access to his college and law school admission applications which would certainly list his nationality.

If he is relying on smoke and mirros now; what happens should he be elected next week?

  • AndToTheRepublic

I don’t have it out for Obama, but I think it is appropriate to ask these questions about his legal status as a citizen. People are bringing up valid points about his citizenship status while living and attending school in Indonesia, and the status of his mother’s citizenship (my understanding is that her young age at the time of his birth complicates this issue). If it is on record that his grandmother has claimed that she witnessed his birth in Indonesia, that should also be investigated.

Furthermore, 1). I DO know the name, city and state of the hospitals where my siblings and myself were born. 2). Official Birth Certificates are not issued on the day of birth by the hospital. You must apply for one. A birth record is given to the mother when she leaves the hospital. However you can get a birth record from the state without necessarily having to prove where the child was born (i.e. in the case of a home birth). 3). If Obama claims he was born in a Hawaiian hospital, it is most likely that there would be medical records of that birth – doctors orders, vaccination records, hospital bills, etc. It should be easy to find out if the hospital kept records from that far back.

Obviously you weren’t around the last time we tried this “spread the wealth” nonsense. (Wavy lines and eerie, sci-fi music as we flash back to the late Sixties)

Lyndon Baines Johnson declared a “War on Poverty,” and promised us “The Great Society.” We saw institutions such as Welfare, Food Stamps, public housing and Medicaid come into existence under something called the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare.

Perhaps the most ridiculous aspect was the acceptance of these programs by poor Americans as some type of progress. It never dawned on them that a millionaire Texas Democrat (who routinely used “the N word” as a description of any Black) simply wanted them to stop rioting and burning down New York, Chicago, Detroit, and L.A, every time they got bored.

So we placed no requirements on people whatsoever. They didn’t have to go to school, they didn’t have to work. They simply got to lie around Section 8 housing and pop out babies. And every time they had another baby, WE GAVE THEM MORE MONEY! We made up nonsensical rules, such as refusing to pay welfare if there was an adult male living at home. Guess why all the daddies left?

Within twenty years we had tax rates bumping on seventy percent. SEVENTY!!!! Our economy was dead on its butt and mortgage interest rates were in double digits. Unemployment rates were also in double digits in some states.

Within thirty years we were into destroying our third generation of poor Americans. They were totally non-functional, and could do nothing other than cash those checks we were giving them. They didn’t HAVE to do anything else!

Thankfully, two men with some brains changed the picture. Ronald Reagan convinced Congress to drop the tax rates by half and Bill Clinton convinced the Congress to end “welfare for life.”

Zippy, “spreading the wealth around” simply doesn’t work. It makes the recipients lazy and dysfunctional, and it makes those who are having their wealth seized simply not bother to accumulate more wealth….or develop crafty ways to hide it.

Socialism is an inherently flawed system that you are getting ready to vote into power. How can you be that irresponsible? Look at Europe, cutting benefits all over the place because the free lunches (that were never really free) started bankrupting the nations.

Obama’s color is no concern to me. His politics, however, are truly frightening because I have already lived through what happens to this country when Socialists start playing Santa Claus with other people’s money.

    It doesn’t work, Zippy!

  • Guest1636

I’m kind of fuzzy on all my political science classes from college, but I don’t beleive the constitution defines a natural born citizen. I think it has been interpreted over the years as being a citizen at birth and therefore not having to go through the “naturalization” process that immigrants go through. I don’t think it has to do with the place of birth. So even if Obama or McCain were born in China, the fact that one or both of their parents were US citizens, they were automatically “natural born” citizens at birth.

McCain’s parents were both US citizens. Obama’s mother was a US citizen. Unless there is a Supreme Court ruling I have forgotten about or am unaware of (possible – since I’ve been out of college a loooong time), both are natural born cizitens.

  • Zippy

My logo is “I am Zippy and I am NOT a natural born citizen”. I was born in Europe. Seriously.

Tom said:”Are you that retarded you can not accept Senator McCain is a natural born US Citizen on the basis of 2 natural born Citizen parents and being born on the soil of a US protectorate?”

Yeah, re-read my posts. I KNOW that, I was making a sarcastic point.

Ton said:”Release his college admission applications. Delaying tactics.”

WHY? You seem to think this farce has been going on all his life so why would he put anything other that Hawaii as his birth place on his college apps.? Remember this is a HUGE farce involving many people including official government entities.

I HAVE NO idea what hospital my sister was born in, do you?

I know a lot of people that do not have an original birth cert. issued the day of birth. They get lost. That is why you contact the state and county where you were born and get a certified COPY of it.

  • Zippy

Are *you* that retarded? (Nice personal slams from you BTW.)Typical. He did present a birth certificate that has been authenticated by the state of Hawaii. It has also be authenticated by a few other news and political organizations. One site has it in their hands with photos of all sides of it. Have you seen a copy of one from Kenya???????? NO. But you choose to believe it because it suits your agenda.

I think there is a TON of deep seated racism here that prevents you and others from seeing the whole picture and makes it easier for you to believe all the rumors online. It justifies in your mind what you think. I was raised in the south, I am white and I will admit that in times past I have been a racist (maybe I still am). BUT I can not stand for the filth and mud slinging that has gone along with this campaign from anyone. I do research when I hear something new, I also ask myself that if any of it were true just how will it effect me and my country if B.O is president and frankly I cant see a problem. He is just a man.

I cant see why you are so afraid.

  • SurfCityTom

you continue to offer bluster instead of fact. You want to see Senator McCain’s birth certificate, go to his website. Easy to read and understand.

Are you that retarded you can not accept Senator McCain is a natural born US Citizen on the basis of 2 natural born Citizen parents and being born on the soil of a US protectorate?

Sorry but those are the FACTS!!

On the other hand we have Senator Obama who has one of 2 choices. 1. Present a copy of his birth certificate. 2. Spend millions of dollars in a court battle to avoid the truth.

If the Democrats win on November 4, look forward to President Biden. That should be a horrifying thought.

Don’t forget, after November 4, the Electoral College meets and after that the results have to be ratified by the House and Senate.

At some point, he’s going to have to come up with a bonafide birth certificate.

At the last minute, let him claim the records were lost in a fire. Go to the hospital and get copies. Release his college admission applications. Delaying tactics.

Zippy, you’re spouting off like a beached whale.

But then maybe you can go to the airport when he boards the plane to return to this birth land after it comes to light he has no birth certificate from Hawaii, any of the other 49 states, any territory, or any protectorate.

Even you can not change the facts, Zippy.

    To modify your logo:

“I’m Barrack Hussein Obama, II and I am not a natural born citizen.”

  • SurfCityTom

I think not Zippy. If there is no merit to this, why hasn’t Senator Obama presented a clear, uncopied, easy to read original copy of his birth certificate?

Why did he have to use legal “smoke and mirror” technicalities to have the lawsuit dismissed this past week; not months ago as you stated?

Why does he name one hospital in Hawaii as his birth place while his half sister named another?

For that matter, where are the hospital records which could clear this issue up?

Why did his paternal grandmother state she was at the hospital in Africa when he was born?

How could he attend school in Indonesia, during his residency there? At that time only Indonesian residents could attend Indonesian schools? Why do the Indonesian public school records list his nationality as Indonesian? Did his step-father and mother renounce his US citizenship in order for him to attend Indonesian schools?

If they did that, it would have been necessary for him to return as a Naturalized Citizen. Naturalized citizens, such as the Governor of California and Henry Kissinger, are not eligible to be President. He never did that; and thus if they did renounce his US citizenship all those years ago in Indonesia, he’s no longer a natural born citizen, if in fact he ever was one.

It would have been necessary for him to take an oath of allegiance and a number of other things in order to become Naturalized.

Sorry but that’s the way the Constitution is written.

Why will he not authorize the release of his college records including admission applications? Is he concerned they might confirm a nationality other than US?

Zippy, I’ll bet no one in the Nixon Administration thought Watergate would lead where it took our country. Of course, they were all Republicans.

I wonder how long this would have remained hidden had Senator Obama been a Republican? There would have been investigative reporters from here to Africa and Indonesia.

More importantly though, since this remains an “open, festering, wound” doesn’t Senator Obamam owe the millions of people who support him and will likely vote for him, a final clearing of the air? Don’t they, and everyone who will have to live under an Obama regime, have the right to know the person elected is absolutely, positively legally qualified to be President?

    Note the word LEGAL.

Clearly he is not a qualified leader with years of experience leading a governemt or even being a force in the Senate who can build concensus opinions. Voting PRESENT in the Senate sure does not communicate much on how he stands on so many positions other than his “take from the hard working and give to the non-working.”

Huey Long tried that back in the 1930’s. Got him no further than the Senate.

What is so hard about this? The Constitution is pretty clear and specific on what one must be in order to be President.

    The Big 3:

    1. Is he 35 years old or older?

    2. Has he resided in this country for at least the last 14 years?

    3. Is he a NATURAL BORN Citizen?

What is he hiding that prevents him from providing documents as simple as a birth certificate? Will it prove he can not qualify on the basis of #-3?

Zippy — he can not have it both ways.

  • Zippy

This will just go on and on in the minds of those wearing the tinfoil hats…

I WANT TO SEE A COPY OF McCAIN’S Birth Cerificate !! Technically HE is NOT a “natural born” citizen either. Panama even if under US control is not U.S. soil. You cant have it both ways. You can NIT PICK this all day long for both candidates.

I know its irrelevant, but someone needs to dog the old man and let the word Panama confuse and daze the Minions.

Here is a tag for all of your posts…

“I’m John McCain and I approved this lie.”

  • Guest Fat Chick

Hey now, I’ve got a good thirty pounds on Palin and I’m still voting McCain. Just because I can’t put down the cheeseburger doesn’t mean I want to pay more taxes.

  • Southern Born

    Thank you,

    You have my vote.

  • Commonsensenotcommontoday

However, Kenya was never a U.S. Protectorate, was it?

Zippy, it would be a very simple step for Obama to put all this behind him, and produce an original birth certificate. But instead, he fights the lawsuits?

Fighting a lawsuit is cheaper and makes more sense than simply producing an original document?

I’m telling you Zippy, something STINKS to high heaven here. You’re smart enough to realize that, too. I KNOW that alarm bells are going off in your head, not just because of this issue, but because of the chasm that exists between what Obama SAYS, and how he VOTES. Who knew Janus was still alive and doing so well?

If you have any integrity at all, you should vote for McCain. Do it for yourself, because you are not going to feel proud when you vote for Obama and he eventually reveals the charlatan he is.

  • Gene

It is not a real hard thing to present a birth certificate. It is just not a real hard thing to prove where one is born. Mr. Obama, instead of allowing this seemingly endless debate go on, instead of paying lawyers mega bucks to stay out of court, present the documents and be done with it!

Hiding behind a team of lawyers is not making me feel any better about you. Just do it! End it! Or, can’t you? A very, very, simple question. If you are too lazy to take the time to stop this “rumor” then you are surely too lazy to be Commander and Chief!

I don’t care if some judge dismised this case. I do care that Obama will not take the time to prove one way or the other his claims to be a naturaly born, US Citizen.

  • Commonsensenotcommontoday

…and for a truly frightening reason: The judge ruled that ordinary citizens have no legal standing to sue to enforce the Constitutional requirement that the president be a natural-born citizen.

This isn’t going away, Zippy. You may be electing a man who will never take office. Are you ready for President Biden?

Better switch your vote to McCain now, to be safe.

  • SurfCityTom

try ridiculous. And aparently full of bluster. No witty, zippy response to Barrack Hussein Obama II latest woe over a birth certificate issued in the British colony of Kenya? Or hasn’t the Obama campaign cleared you to comment oon such a sensitive topic?

  • Zippy

If there were any real doubt that Obama was a natural born U.S. citizen it would have been vetted long before now.

This says everything that needs to be said. If there were a real issue, we would be seeing it everywhere, not just in little back-water blogs that only fanatics bother to read.

Do you not think that McCain’s camp and Hillary’s would have found out the truth by now? More rumors still floating around the internet.

Phill Berg’s attempt was dismissed by a federal judge this month because they were found to be “frivolous and not worthy of discussion” also they “ventured into the unreasonable.”

No witty Zippy today, bored of this subject frankly.

  • SurfCityTom

you could be opening a whole can of unpleasant worms for Barrack Hussein Obama, II.

He’s in Hawaii right now trying to suppress a court hearing. If the hearing is succesful, it will require entry of a British birth certificate for Barrach Hussein Obama, II issued by the way on his birthdate, for a child born in a hospital in the then British colony of Kenya.

Do you think Obama really wants that can of worms to open up?

Cause, if that birth certificate is his and is legal, he is not a US citizen. He is an illegal alien.

Unlike Henry Kissinger and Arnold Schwarneger, neither of whom was born in this country or to 2 natural born US citizens, who took an oath of allegiance when they became citizens; Senator Obama has not.

On the other hand, anyone with half a brain knows the natural born offspring of 2 United States citiznes is automatically a US citizen, even if born on the North Pole.

That’s something Senator Obama can not claim.

So to answer your ridiculous question:

Yes Skippy, there is a US citizen named John McCain.

I’m just not certain if you are spouting off like a beached whale or deep down are a supporter of Senator McCain.

Looking forward to your witty response. I hope you use fact and not bluster.

  • Guest365248

No, he isn’t. That’s just what the liberal media wants you to beleive. Don’t be so quick to declare a winner yet. No matter who wins this election, we all will lose.

  • Zippy

Yes dear I know, I was trying to be FUNNY. I know that Panama Military bases were in US control when McCain was born. Just adding to the usual bull on here to see if anyone would even notice.

  • Commonsensenotcommontoday

He was born in the Canal Zone, a US Protectorate at the time, to a military father who was stationed there. It’s the same as babies born to military families in Okinawa or Germany. They ARE U.S. citizens.

Um….on the other hand, the Israeli Mossad says that Obama’s birth certificate is the “worst forgery” they’ve ever seen….and no one has yet produced the actual document – only pictures and photocopies.

    Could it be…….?

  • YaDaddy

McPalin, you are the classic voter who is putting this country at risk with your right to vote for a scumbag like Obuma. I really wish that they had IQ requirements of at least 60 to get a ballot. Are you really that stupid or are you just having fun. What has Bush done to you personally? Really consider that for a moment. Lets remember a couple of things (try not to get dizzy), this economic mess started during the Clinton years because credit was extended to mythological levels and the overly inflated tech stocks rightly adjusted themselves. Secondly, we have not had another major terrorist attack on our soil since 9/11. Yes, war sucks but there has been benefits. Saddam Hussein is dead, a vicious dictator who ran concentration camps and used posion gas on entire regions. While there is a resurgence of the Taliban, they are a shadow of what they were before we stepped in. Now, Bush has made mistakes, but he did have the interests of the USA at heart.
The idea that you would vote for an unknown, untested, and underqualifed loser like Obuma just because the media told you that Bush was bad is enough to make intellegent people tremble. We laugh at you behind your back and talk about you when we get together. Please try to understand that voting is important and that if you really don’t have the brains to make a logical choice, then you should probably stay home on election day. Seriously, it is the best thing that you can do for your country. Stop watching mainstream media on TV. Research and read some unbiased material. Please try to become a person worthy of casting a ballot that will effect a whole lot more than you can imagine.

  • Guestwhosyordaddy

ARe you sassing me? I don’t put up with liberals being sassy. WHO would succeed? Everyone that counts would. You are not included. The shaved ape Obuma will not win, so I will probably not need to worry. After his sound embarrassment, you idiotic liberals can go and hide in the “closet” for another couple of years….good riddence. But cheer up, losers, you will still have Oprah.

Our beautiful soon to be Vice President Sarah Palin is the best future leader for this nation, not Senator Barak Obama. Our beautiful soon to be Vice President Sarah Palin is also would be better at leading our nation in the future after a McCain Presidency than Senator Barak Obama would be in leading our nation in the future starting in January 2009. There are great reasons our soon to be Vice President Sarah Palin would be a better future leader than Senator Barak Obama. The greatest reason for our soon to be Vice President Sarah Palin’s is ideology. Our soon to be Vice President Sarah Palin is conservative in that she is pro life, marriage, guns, low taxes, low government spending, small government, unintrosive government, traditional and judeo Christian values, Bible reading and prayer in our public schools, and military spending. Senator Barak Obama is a liberal who is anti every thing that I have described that our soon to be Vice President Sarah Palin is pro about or for. A second reason that our soon to be Vice President Sarah Palin is superior is because of experience. As a governor she has two years of executive administrative governing experience that Senator Barak Obama does not have. A final reason that our soon to be Vice President Sarah Palin is superior is because of political accomplishments. When our soon to be Vice President Sarah Palin came to office she accomplished 3 major things which are as follows: she showed great leadership in the 3 following areas: government reform, the state budget and the economy, and wise use of natural resources. She reformed government by standing up to the big oil companies by breaking up the monopoly on power and resources. She insisted on competition and basic fairness which ended the control that the oil companies had on the state, and thereby returning control of the state back to the people. She also stood up to the special interest and lobbyist, and produced major ethics reform. She lead well in the state budget by generating a surplus which came about by vetoing a half billion dollars of wasteful spending, ending the abuses of earmark spending by congress, and by getting rid of the private jet, the chef, and the chuffer. Economically under her leadership she brought about the largest private-sector infrastructure project in North American history. She also suspended the state fuel tax, and when oil and gas prices went up dramatically, and filled up the state treasury, she sent a large share of that revenue back where it belonged – directly to the people of Alaska . On natural resources she has shown great leadership by beginning a nearly forty billion dollar natural gas pipeline to help lead America to energy independence. When the last section of the pipeline is laid and its valves are opened, will lead America one step farther away from dependence on dangerous foreign powers that do not have our interests at heart. Senator Barak Obama has done nothing, so please vote John McCain for President and give to our beautiful soon to be Vice President Sarah Palin the opportunity that she deserves leading the nation into the future after a John McCain presidency. When our soon to be Vice President does lead the nation as President after a John McCain presidency, she will be the greatest President that we have ever had. Finally she is smarter than Senator Barak Obama

“That does involve us spreading around opportunity and it means that for people like myself, making a lot more than $250,000 a year, paying a little bit more so that the waitress who is surviving on minimum wage can put a roof over her head,” Obama said.

How did we get to a point where the waitress isn’t responsible for putting a roof over her own head? How are wealthy people responsible for her living conditions?

We’re now going to punish the people who are doing it right, and reward the under-achievers.

    God help this country.

Ummmm, you understand being President ain’t like being King or Emporer (which is the job I want). The US government is divided into 3 branches. Legislative, Judicial, and Executive. W is at the top of the Executive Branch. Dems control the Legislative Branch and the Judicial is SUPPOSED to be impartial. W didn’t lead us down this road, but that’s not to say he, along with alot of others, didn’t read the signs.

If you bought or sold a house in the last 4 years at an inflated price, or hustled real estate trying to get rich quick, you’re as much to blame as he is. In fact, you’re a direct contributor. What goes up, must come down. I’m all about drive and success, but come on – look at how inflated the prices for Waterford and those places are. Stack ’em up and there’s a huge piece of the puzzle.

Why do the Dems always tout “raising mimimum wage”? I haven’t earned minimum wage since I was 16. I’m 41 now (and look mighty fine for my age) and I want NO part of making the minimum. If you back off and look at the forest instead of that one tree, you’d see that the Democrats want to enslave you by making you absolutely dependant on the government. I don’t think the Republicans are pure as the driven snow either. Maybe we need to start our own party. “Constitutionalist Party” If it doesn’t pertain to servicing and defending the US Constitution, it’s not important.

Take a mental break – Imagine for a moment, 9/11 if Al Gore had been president. We’d have probably surrendered that day. I am proud of W when he was under pressure. Things got clouded as more handlers became involved and more time went by, but I thought he unified us like no one had done for 50 years. Even Al laid low for about a year afterwards ’cause he knew he didn’t have the guts to deal with it. Why do you think he went all “green”? He’d already invented the internet and realized he was grateful he wasn’t on the hot seat.

Back away from your party, no matter which it is, and ask “who is better for the country?” Borat should scare the devil out of you. He makes Nancy Pelosi look like an ugly Jesse Helms. (God bless you Jesse, rest in peace). Ol’ Tap & Scratch McCain is a little closer to “middle of the road”. Not exactly where I want to be, but I can settle for Center.

  • Guest234

Are you that backward? So you are saying if it wasn’t for yankees NC would still be backward? Oh please. I take it you’ve never been anywhere?
Yee-Haw praise the yankees. They saved us.
You are crazy. There are smart, well educated Southerners and that didn’t have anything to do with the north.
Maybe we could get more gang bangers down here to enlighten our children. I’m sure NY etc would supply the bus.
Every state has good and bad!

Hey, I would much rather keep the yankees down here and deport all of yall hate-spewing McCain nutjob rednecks. Posts like this make ME ASHAMED of my state. I cannot stand this hatred toward Northerners. It’s immature and misdirected.

p.s. – Look at all the polls, McCain is going to LOSE. Deal with it. :)

I am truly humbled that y’all enjoyed my perspective.

The pen IS mightier than the sword, as Mr or Ms Idiot Ex Republican is officially my first victim, having suffered a stroke after reading my humorous truths. I wonder if I caused blood to shoot out of his/her eyes. Oh well. 4 more and I win a 4×6 McCain / Palin yard sign. Dang she’s HOT! And hotness counts as much as being a great orator (that means speaker if big words scare you). Talk is cheap, chumps. Just look at how easily people get wound up on this blog.

Has anyone checked out Prof. Alexander Tyler? He’s credited with the statement on the Fall of the Athenian Republic which in short reads that democracies only last about 200 years. They fail when voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts. Hmmmmmmm. Ain’t about forty percent of the population on the Government teet now? (I told you Yankees I uz smarter than you-ze)

Hell, I’d run for office but the pay and the smear campaigns ain’t worth it.

Ask your lib friends to name 1 piece of legislaton Borat Uday Hussein Nobama sponsored and got passed. Zippo is the answer, and I don’t mean like the cigarette lighter company.

As for Ms O’Donnell, I’m bringing a mouse. That should do the trick!

It could’nt be more american than to vote for

Look what Bush has done to us!!!!! If that is not un-American I don’t know what is!!!! To look out for your rich friends while working people are fighting to hang on to their homes.

    Vote Barack Obama

I bet the reason that you have it out for the VP hottie would be evident if you posted a self-photo. Lots of heavier, less attractive gals are having a jealous hissy fit over Palin. If you are a guy and you wouldn’t give Palin a vote, maybe you should check out the log cabin republicans. Don’t try to cover it up with issues….you know the real reasons. Admitting it to yourself is the first step to recovery. There is a cure for media-induced liberalism. I just wish sexy Sarah was my nurse…..

I WAS BORN AND RAISED IN WILMINGTON 55 YEARS AGO AND I AM APPALED TO SEE THAT A MAN WITH SUCH A LIMITED EDUCATION WOULD TALK ABOUT FORMER GLORY.
FIRST OF ALL, WHAT THE HECK IS HE TALKING ABOUT?
MY SUGGESTION IS THAT HE GET HIS HEAD OUT OF HIS BUTT AND TAKE A TRIP PAST THE OUTSKIRTS OF WILMINGTON…APPARENTLY, HE HAS NEVER BEEN ANYWHERE.
AS A NATIVE OF WILMINGTON, I AM OFFENDED THAT IGNORANCE LIKE THIS STILL LIVES IN OUR THRIVING CITY. THANK GOD THE YANKEES GOT HERE TO SAVE US FROM “OUR FORMER GLORY”.

God Help Us All! John McCain for President!!!

  • Guest20

    You should be ashamed!!
Obama is the one that the being held as the “Messiah”..

Where is the real concern for our country? Obama’s past affliliations and efforts to cover up his past and current affliations should be of concern to us all! We don’t see the liberal media bringing it to light. hmmm. I wonder why? We are more concerned with ripping apart Palin and making a big deal over her clothing rather than basing this election on truth. Obama is a liar and we are headed for disaster with this man a president. 3 years in the senate is hardly PRESIDENT WORTHY!I know that the argument is then “Palin has no experience either” but she has accomplished more as a governor than Obama has in his 3 years in the senate. Would there be a better choice for McCain for VP? Sure. But it is what it is. McCain would be the president now if elected. Not Palin – unless something happened. OBAMA_ with his lack of experience is who many are choosing as PRESIDENT NOW??? Granted Biden has much more experience but… who is running for PRESIDENT now? And are we willing to sacrifice today for what “could happen if McCain died because he is old?” tomorrow as far as McCain/ Palin go? We used to hold the presidency in such high regard. What happened along the way? I know that many many mistakes have been made with the current administration however let’s not vote on emotion! Yes we need change, however we must be wise and not vote OBAMA simply because he uses the word CHANGE so freely. Discernment, Wisdom, Truth, Honesy, and EXPERIENCE AND KNOW HOW – must be a vital part of the voting decision!

I can’t say I agree with GUEST fully, but most Yankees I run into keep saying “this is how we did it up north” “Up north we had this and this” IF IT WAS SO DANG GREAT THERE GO BACK!!!!!

I have lived in NC most of my life and I love this State and Town, but since the influx of “YANKEES” all I’ve seen are more RUDE WHINY people, no more smiles and polite hellos. People from “up north” are afraid to smile at strangers…may get mugged…OH NO!!!

Do you mean to say that your guns haven’t walked off on their own to create “gun violence?” Hard to imagine. While the entertainment value of the usual rants on this site should not be underestimated, it is rare to read anything truly witty. Thanks for the chuckle.

  • Truth Hurtz

Man, I can tell from your ID that you know better! Loose lips sink ships!

Don’t be tipping off the liberal Northeastern invaders about the fact that their anti-gun psychosis will be a distinct disadvantage for them when the revolution starts.

To all of my dear, dear friends from New Yawk (to include “da island”) and Joizey, don’t pay him any mind. You don’t want those evil guns in your home. If you bring a gun into your house, someone will die! Your son will find it and shoot his friend. He might shoot you and the old lady! Or you will hear a noise late at night and accidentally shoot your daughter fifteen times while she’s putting her school books away. Saturday night specials (any handgun with a barrel length under sixty inches) often misfire simply while they are lying in a night stand drawer, and shoot passing toddlers in the head. (Go put a toddler next to your night stand – see if the alignment isn’t perfect.)

Trust me, we sincerely welcome you to North Carolina, appreciate **ALL** you have done for us, and remember that Rosie O’Donnell, Sarah Brady, and Mike Bloomberg are 100% right when it comes to those nasty guns.

    Satan’s tools, they are!

Do you really think being “down to earth” and “easy on the eyes” is an attribute that someone needs to take care of a problem in the middle east? I think it is more important that they at least know where it is, and maybe know more than three countries(Iraq, Iran, Isreal) that comprise the area. If you factor in her looks as to how you vote, then you are a bigger idiot than she is.

  • Guest123456

And which “former glory” would that be, lynch mobs, or when women couldn’t vote?

    Embrace the change!

In comparing both candidates, you can hardly tell them apart. One is young, the other old, one black, one white, one is articulate, one is a veteran. There are things I like in both and there are things that frighten me to no end about both.

So. John McCain? Really? That’s the very best we’ve got? The tie breaker for me was Gov. Palin. At least she’s down to earth. Being easy on the eyes don’t hurt either. If she’s VP, I’ll have to TiVo C-SPAN every day!!!!

Alot of Republicans are voting Osamba to send the GOP a message – as stupid as that may be. Trouble is, the GOP seems to be hearing “TURN LEFT”. The intended message is “You’ve let us down”.

Three final points. Okay. 4. It’s my favorite.
    1. Dems have controlled Washington for the past 2 years. Be sure to thank them for the mess we’re in now.
    2. NAFTA was the beginning of the end for NC. Thanks Mr. Clinton. Awesome piece of legislation.
    3. To you Yankees, don’t slurr off about my spelling or written dialect. It was done on purpose. I’m smarter than you and have as many guns as you have golf balls.
    4. Ted Kennedy’s car has killed more people than all my guns combined – so there.

  • BD

And Guest7969, you do know that before the yankees came here that North Carolina was long called the Rip VanWinkle state because of its backwards ideologies? If it wasn’t for the yankees, we would still be a poor, backwoods state. And please elaborate on returning this state to its former glory.

  • Guestrebel

I think if this country as a whole elects this no good Obumer as president, then we should succeed from the union again. Of course, it would not all be southern this time. But, it might work this time. If everyone who doesn’t want his “wealth spread around” would refuse to go to work for a couple of weeks, I think we would see excatly what kind of power we have. If Obama’s supports stayed home a few days…well, I guess it wouldn’t be all that different. Get them stars and bars a’waving y’all, we might have some work to do!!

For some one who seems to know so much about the word of the bible you don’t sound very christian your self. Is church and state still not seperate in this country. If we are going to talk politics let’s talk political issues, if where going to talk bible let’s do it as it was intended to be done.

  • Guest1234

After 40 years of the Great Society that has not lifted anyone out of poverty, we are now given another plan of wealth to welfare. It is too simple to cut out spending, waste and abuse and actually make the government work for you.No not good enough we are led down a path of making enemies out each other for a political agenda, giving more and more for bigger government waste and abuse.
Someone should be asking where is our money going instead of what can I get out of it.

Beware all Christians!! Don’t vote for McCain.
“Jenkins said his teams suspicions were further heightened when genealogical research showed that McCain’s great-grandfather was actually not John McCain, but John Mihai. Mihai is an ancient Romanian name, and according to Bible-believing Christians, the Antichrist is likely to be a Romanian. “What clinched it for us was that the name Mihai means ‘who is like the Lord,'” said Jenkins. “As far as we’re concerned, that was enough. It means that McCain might easily pretend to be the Redeemer.”
I’m white and Christian, I’m voting Obama for Jesus!!!!

  • Sarah P

The analysis was conducted by the respected True Bible Society, and it will be published next month in the End Times Journal.

The analysis was especially ironic, given that it came out just one day after McCain was accused of subtly hinting that Barack Obama could be the Antichrist. McCain ran a commercial depicting Obama as “The One,” giving rise to charges that he was sending a subliminal messages to anti-Obama Christians.

“What started us looking at this issue is the fact that Senator McCain has declared his intention to maintain US forces in Iraq for a hundred years,” said David Jenkins, a leading Biblical scholar. “That means that McCain wants to control Babylon for at least a century.” According to many scholars of the Book of Revelation, the Antichrist will try to rebuild the ancient city of Babylon in order to use it as a springboard for an international effort at world domination. Ultimately, the Antichrist will marshal forces from Babylon to spark a showdown with Christian and Jewish-led forces in the battle of Armageddon.
Be aware Christians- don’t vote for McCain!

  • Zippy

If you are a preacher you know NOTHING of the bible.

    Muslims? Sorry, Wrong Century DUH!
At the time Revelation (not the improperly spelled Revelations) was written, somewhere between 69 A.D., during the reign of the Emperor Nero, and about 300 A.D., the religion of Islam (aka muslims) did not exist. Mohammed was not even born until the 7th Century A.D.

    2. Of Muslim Descent? No Such Warning.
There is no mention of any being “of Muslim descent” anywhere in Revelation. Incidentally, Barack Obama is not a muslim. He belongs to the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago.

    AntiChrist? None Mentioned
    3. There is no reference to ANY Antichrist anywhere int the Book of Revelation. The book describes a multi-headed dragon, but never an Anti-christ.

    4. A Man in his 40s?
Nowhere in Revelation is any such description given.

    THE 9th COMMANDMENT
Exodus 20:16 “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.” Jerk.

It is nice to see you can copy and paste from the internet. I googled “John McCain has long been a major player in a radical militaristic group driven by an” your opening lines and find it posted all over the internet.

Please come up with something ORGINAL…..

  • Guest2

John McCain has long been a major player in a radical militaristic group driven by an ideology of global expansionism and dominance attained through perpetual, pre-emptive, unilateral, multiple wars. The credo of this group is “the end justifies the means,” and the end of establishing the United States as the world’s sole superpower justifies, in its estimation, anything from military control over the information on the Internet to the use of genocidal biological weapons. Over its two terms, the George W. Bush administration has planted the seeds for this geopolitical master plan, and now appears to be counting on the McCain administration, if one comes to power, to nurture it.
    McCain’s Ties to PNAC

John McCain’s connection to PNAC can be traced back to before its formation in 1997. In fact, he was president of the New Citizenship Project, founded by Kristol in 1994. This organization was parent to PNAC, and served as its chief fundraising organ.

McCain also worked cooperatively with PNAC and Wolfowitz in attempting to overthrow the Saddam Hussein regime in Iraq. In 1998, he co-sponsored the Iraq Liberation Act—drafted by PNAC—which decreed “regime change” in Iraq to be U.S. policy, and which appropriated $97 million in U.S. military aid to the Iraqi National Congress (INC). The INC was a group of anti-Hussein Iraqi militants whose purpose was to instigate a national uprising against Hussein. It was led by Ahmed Chalabi, the Iraqi informant whose subsequent faulty intelligence—claims that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction and ties to al-Qaida—was used to sell the Iraq war to the American public. In 2004, in response to accusations that he deliberately misled U.S. intelligence agencies, Chalabi glibly stated, “We are heroes in error.”

McCain also was co-chair (with Sen. Joseph Lieberman) of The Committee for the Liberation of Iraq (CLI). Established by PNAC in late 2002, this committee continued to finance Chalabi’s INC with millions of taxpayer dollars, until shortly after the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003, when it was discontinued. In 2004, McCain became a signatory of PNAC, ironically signing on to a PNAC letter condemning Russian President Vladimir Putin’s foreign policy for its return to the “rhetoric of militarism and empire.”

Jihan Nassar, a homemaker in Corona, Calif., is listed as a $500 donor to the campaign of Florida Gov. Charlie Crist. But she insists she never gave a dime.

”I can’t make any donations, financially,” Nassar said Friday. “We never made any donations, sir. I have no idea what you are talking about.”

Nassar and her husband, Waleed, are among more than three dozen California donors listed as giving to Crist’s campaign on June 19, 2006 — donations bundled by a controversial Delray Beach defense contractor now under scrutiny for contributions to GOP presidential candidate John McCain.

On Thursday, the McCain campaign said it would return $50,000 in donations tied to businessman Harry Sargeant III, finance chairman of the Florida Republican Party and a college buddy of Crist’s. Sargeant has said the California donors were solicited by a business partner, Mustafa Abu Naba’a, a Jordanian with an apartment in Miami-Dade, records show.

Obama is what many are looking for – charismatic and full of new ideas (or so it seems). Alot of his plans are just the same thing re-made over because that is what people are looking for. If you truly believe that he is the one for president, vote for him. If you are only voting for him because he is younger or because he is black, you are voting for the wrong reason.

Also, I have been reading about the spending of both candidates, and Obama seems to be coming up with alot of money from the private sector. Now the newspapers are reporting about where McCain’s money is coming from, but nothing about Obama. Where exactly is the money coming from and why is not being revealed? Kind of makes you wonder, huh?
