Governor Bev Perdue says the state’s budget problems are getting worse. Yesterday she told most state agencies to cut nine percent of their budgeted amounts for the current fiscal year. Last month, she had asked for cuts up to seven percent. In addition to declining revenues, the governor says the state is receiving $150 million less from the federal stimulus package than expected.

I guess this state is just going to have to learn how to balance a budget……imagine that.

our illustrious Governor is cut from the same cloth as her predessor…nothing more than a politician that reacts instead of acting ahead of time. We’ve known for many months that consumer spending was down and declining even further as the months went along. Sadly, the cuts they’re now looking for could have been made easier during the 3rd and 4th quarters of 2008 instead of now saying “Cut 9%…”

As we move forward, I fear we’ll see how inept Governor Purdue and her staff really are at running our state in a fiscally sound manner.

They don’t want to do enough since that might show they wouldn’t have needed to raise taxes. The response has to be ” We did everything we could and since that won’t work we’ll need to raise taxes” You know that raising taxes fixes everything. That way they don’t have burn up precious brain cells trying to figure out that they really don’t have a clue.

I guess we’ll have to spend 10 million on a study to hide the truth!!!!!
