Religion and retail living together as one – that is what’s happening at the Independence Mall. Life Community Church opened its doors next to Sears Sunday morning for the church’s first service in its new home. The church had been looking for several new locations to house its expanding congregation. After considering many options, including building a new facility, the church decided to go to the mall. Church leaders hope they can reach a broader base in their new facility. “We knew that it was just a great opportunity to reach more people in the city. It’s real easy to say, hey we’re at the mall,” said worship pastor Matt Blair. “We’re just pumped that we’ve seen over half the crowd is brand new people here today. So its been really exciting to see that we’re reaching a different part of the city that we probably wouldn’t normally get to reach, because we’re in here.” More than 450 faithful packed the church’s first service in its new space. That is nearly double its typical attendance. The church meets each Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
