Local residents are upset and say they’re concerned about their safety. "It’s out of the ordinary," said David Martin, a Rocky Point resident. "You don’t usually expect that to happen in a small community like Rocky Point." "I don’t feel like I’m really under a threat myself," said Annie Prigden, who lives at the intersection. "But I feel I could possibly be a target." The murder is under investigation.

Thankfully I was away at my mom’s when this happened. I live just around the corner from where they found her body at NC133 and Cheshire. We live in truly violent times. Long ago in my memory was the time where we didn’t need to lock our doors or watch for strangers.
