WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two candidates who duked it out this spring have apparently made nice. Michael Lee announced today he is endorsing Thom Goolsby for the 9th District State Senate seat.

Goolsby beat Lee back in May after a campaign that at times turned very personal, including political cartoons from Lee poking fun at Goolsby. Lee now says this is an opportunity for Republicans to take control of the North Carolina Senate for the first time in over 120 years.

Meanwhile a Congressional candidate is getting some star power to help his campaign. Actor Kelsey Grammer will attend two fundraisers next week for Ilario Pantano. The republican is challenging Mike McIntyre.

Monday Pantano and Grammer will attend a lunch fundraiser in Lumberton and then another over dinner in Wilmington. Grammer has helped other Republican campaigns, including John McCain’s run for president two years ago.
