BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — Last month many of you answered the call when we reported that the Pender County Animal Shelter needed dog houses to protect animals from the elements. Now the shelter needs help again.

After failing a state inspection, the shelter must renovate its septic system. As a result at least 60 dogs need to be relocated by the end of the month.

If you’re interested in adopting or fostering a pet from the shelter, call Pender County Animal Control at (910) 259-1349. The shelter is open Monday-Friday 8-11 a.m. and 1-4 p.m. It will also be open Saturday 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

For more information visit the shelter’s website at http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/NC259.html.
