COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Columbus County’s top educator is making a move. Superintendent Dan Strickland is moving across the state line to take the same job in Marion County, SC, starting in July.

Strickland is a Columbus County native, who worked his way up through the ranks of the school system from teacher all the way to superintendent. He said he’s at a point in his life where he wants to explore new opportunities and challenges.

Strickland said he is keeping his house in Columbus County to come home when he retires.
