UNCW extends Chancellor Emeritus Leutze's term two more years

THE FOLLOWING IS A NEWS RELEASE FROM UNCW:

UNCW BOARD OF TRUSTEES EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE RESOLUTION REGARDING INSTITUTIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE OFFICE OF THE CHANCELLOR EMERITUS JAMES R. LEUTZE

WHEREAS, on June 30, 2003, and in recognition of James R. Leutze’s contributions and service to the University of North Carolina Wilmington and the State of North Carolina, the UNCW Board of Trustees conferred the title of Chancellor Emeritus on Dr. Leutze, effective upon his retirement as UNCW Chancellor;

WHEREAS, Dr. Leutze has retired from his faculty position, is currently a state retiree, and continues as Chancellor Emeritus, in consideration of his contributions on behalf of the institution, the UNC System, the region, and the State of North Carolina;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the University agrees to provide support for the Office of the Chancellor Emeritus (Office) to June 30, 2013; the provision of support to the Office shall be reviewed by the Board as they deem appropriate on or before June 30, 2013, the tenth anniversary of the establishment and support of the Office; subsequent financial support, if any, may be conferred on annual, two-year, or defined term increments at the discretion of the Board; and the Office shall be provided the following support until June 30, 2013:
• Assigned and furnished office space designated by the institution;
• An office operating budget as determined by the university;
• A half-time office support position assigned to the Office of the Chancellor Emeritus.

In consultation with the Board, the hiring authority for the office support position shall be the UNCW Chancellor or designee. The Board may review at any time the Office, the provision and level of university support to the Office, and the continued commitment of state and university resources.

as you cut jobs, your paying him to do what. I would guess "nothing". Way to go UNCW, raise students fees some more.
