STANLEY, NC (AP) — Some apparently quiet thieves have taken televisions and computers from a North Carolina fire department while half a dozen firefighters were sleeping.

The Gaston Gazette reports the burglary happened early Sunday after firefighters at the East Lincoln Fire Department had returned from a late night call and gone to bed.

Department spokesman Jason Saine says thieves took three computers, two TVs and a satellite box. He says the thieves did minor damage while ripping a 55-inch TV off the wall, but managed not to waken anyone.

Saine says it looks like the thieves broke in during the emergency call, stole food and then waited outside for the firefighters to return and go to bed before breaking in again.

The sheriff’s office is investigating.
