CAMP LEJEUNE, NC (AP) — Two North Carolina-based Marines are being honored for their actions in Afghanistan.

Chief Warrant Officer 2 Paul Sandy and 1st Lt. Tyler Kurtz will receive Bronze Stars Friday with a combat distinguishing device for acts of valor. That is the fourth-highest combat award given by the US military.

Sandy and Kurtz are both part of the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit based at Camp Lejeune. They will be honored for actions while deployed between October 2009 and May 2010. The military did not specifically describe their actions.
