WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Legal advice is something most everyone needs, but it can be pricey, and you may not know where to start. So, the Young Lawyers Division of the North Carolina Bar Association decided to sponsor Ask a Lawyer Day on Saturday.

Hundreds of people from all over the Cape Fear went to Independence Mall in Wilmington to seek legal counsel for free. Attorneys specializing in various fields gave one-on-one advice to people with questions including health, bankruptcy and housing issues.

Wilmington attorney Bonnie Braudway helped organize the event and said, some problems may not have been completely solved in the 30 minutes allowed, but the consultations helped get everyone on the right track. “It gives people an opportunity to meet with an attorney that may not otherwise be able to do that. Sometimes, they may not be able to afford it, or they may not know where to turn. This is a good opportunity for them to just come out and sit down face-to-face with somebody.”

As of now, annual Ask a Lawyer Day will take place again next year.
