WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Grammy-winner Darius Rucker will join the Avett Brothers as the headlining concert acts during the 64th Annual North Carolina Azalea Festival. Rucker, the frontman for 1996 Best New Artist Grammy winner Hootie & the Blowfish, will bring his country solo act to Trask Coliseum on Wednesday, April 6 at 8 p.m. Tickets for Rucker’s concert at $52.50. They are available online at http://www.ncazaleafestival.org or at the Azalea Festival office at 5725 Oleander Drive, Suite B7.

Festival organizers announced late last year the Avett Brothers would perform the Friday night concert, which is sold out.

This morning the Azalea Festival also announced some of the celebrity guests who will accompany the Queen throughout the festival. Wilmington native Connor Barth heads the group. Barth, a 2004 graduate of Hoggard High School, is currently the place kicker for the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The celebrity guests also include Miss North Carolina 2010 Adrienne Leigh Core, Emmy-winning soap star Leann Hunley, the commander of the USS Gravely Cmdr. Douglas Kunzman and Chris Lambton, a former contestant on ABC’s “The Bachelorette.”

Festival organizers plan to announce more celebrities and the festival Queen soon.

…than a weeks worth of crack, likker and street walkers, right? Plus, it IS good entertainment! By the way, decent, big name concert tickets with good seats very commonly run about $250.00.

Now…go back under the rock.

$52 to see this dude, seriously…why do rich people who already have
more money then they can spend, insist on charging us poor average people so much money for the “honor” of seeing them live in concert. Don’t they know there is a recession on? Who can afford that kind of money in this day and age…guess that’s what the world has come down, to, the rich getting richer at the expense of the rest of us common folk…
