HICKORY, NC (AP) — A Hickory teen arrested on charges of shooting and hacking to death his older roommate posted a Facebook message asking God for forgiveness.

The Hickory Daily Record reported that a message posted by 19-year-old Michael Anderson early Monday also contained the phrase “my killing starts tonight.”

Sheriff’s deputies say the body of 36-year-old Stephen Starr was found in the front bedroom of his home. Officials say a word had been carved into Starr’s body, but deputies would not release the details. Deputies say Anderson called 911 Monday morning and was still at the home when they arrived.

Neighbors say Anderson had recently moved in with Starr, who introduced him as his new adopted son.

It was not clear Tuesday if Anderson has an attorney.
