BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A state trooper lands in the hospital after a crash in Brunswick County this morning.

The Highway Patrol says Trpr. John King hit a vehicle entering US 17 in front of Brunswick Community Hospital. Investigators say the other car failed to yield and drove into oncoming traffic.

Both King and the other driver involved were taken to the hospital. Neither are believed to have life-threatening injuries.

Officers cited the driver of the other car for failure to yield to right of way.

If the officer was traveling over the speed limit, as most do, he contributed to the accident. Of course, if he was, we will never hear about it.

the local director of the DOT should be ashamed, this wouldn’t be necessary if there was a FREAKIN TRAFFIC LIGHT IN FRONT OF THE D..N HOSPITAL!!!!! What kind of bumpkin govt. refuses to put a traffic light in front of a hospital??? The trooper should sue the DOT. Simply pathetic.

    I’m sure the state trooper wasn’t speeding…

Yes, the trooper could have been speeding, but it’s also extremely common to have people pull out in front of you when they shouldn’t on US17. I think this is one of those situations where you had to be there to know for sure.

Also, I usually let the fuzz go by before I pull out.

YOU KNO NOT?!??! A STATE TROOPER SPEEDING???….NO WAY….LMAO…Just like all police officers none of them are ever speeding!!!! Simply amazing.

But, was the the trooper speeding with no lights (as in not on a call) as they very often do on 17? Excessive speed on the troopers side could have caused the other driver to mis-calculate the time he had to cross the road. Just curious.

In this wreck the citizen got a ticket. When the deputy ran into the back of a car on Shipyard he was not charged. I told you that things do not apply fairly by Law Enforcement. They commit traffic violations and nothing happens. A citizen commits a traffic violation and they are cited. Tell me that is fair!

If you’re going to pull out in front of a vehicle it’s not a good idea to make it a trooper. Hope both drivers are okay.
