BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — North Brunswick High School’s former band director will have to wait a little longer for his day in court.

Mark Riel was no where to be found at the Brunswick County Courthouse today. Riel resigned earlier this month after being arrested for allegedly sending and inappropriate text messages to a student.

His attorney asked the hearing be continued to a later date. Riel’s next court hearing is scheduled for March 29.

I guess if you get your case continued enough times, the media loses interest. There’s been a few entries on the Brunswick Court calendar, but nothing was reported on any of the TV news programs, or the paper. The next one listed for this TEACHER is July 17.

I have no experience with the court system other than a speeding ticket, so I’m not sure what this upcoming event is – a trial, pleading guilty, ??? The information in the document, I’ve pasted below – anyway, maybe the media – that’s you WWAY news – will pick up on it, and cover whatever this is.

I’d like to know what this guy was trying to do – trying to hook up with a kid, or just another inappropriate comment via a text message, this time – as I’ve learned he had a habit of from my kids at the school.
