CARY, N.C. (AP) - North Carolina's restaurant inspectors award top grades for sanitation even when the establishments they examine have obvious problems such as roach or rodent infestations.
An Associated Press analysis of state and county records show the average food service inspection over the past five years led to a sanitation score of 98 out of 100 - a grade of high "A." Only 17 facilities over more than 375,000 inspections failed by scoring below a "C," resulting in a brief shutdown.
State rules limit how many points inspectors can deduct for specific violations, even critical ones, meaning that establishments must have a series of problems to record a "B" or lower. Bug and pest problems carry a maximum two-point deduction.

No wonder!
Well, this explains why I usually get sick after going out to eat. I guess I'll have to start cooking at home more often.
kitchen inspectors
Why does the state allow eateries to fool people into thinking they are clean with these A and B ratings when they have rats and roaches running all through the business?? People come to eat and see the rating and think its a clean place to eat. THAT'S JUST WRONG!
Waiter, there's a fly in my soup, and can I get some more?
There's an old saying about Barbecue; You can't make good Southern Barbecue, and comply with the health code! Now apparently you can't make anything by abiding by the health code. Wilmingtons best chef a couple of years ago, (or still may be) worked for the Chop Shop just outside Wrightsville Beach, Channel 3 went to his home to check if he followed the health code, for his personal use, and guess what, he failed, having beef on top of chicken, and other violations, so if the so called best fails, why should anyone be suprised, after all, the FDA allows so much "extra" into the food that is processed.
have you ever eaten at the
have you ever eaten at the sezchuan buffet behind the awful waffle on market street?i ate lunch there the other day and the food was COLD ! well ok, room temp or lower.to me, if it aint hot its cold.
to be fair it was early 11:30 am,still they served it yuuuuk. about 1145 or 12 they brought out some hot stuff and changed the pans and dumped the "room temp" stuff on top.
i don`t know something just isn`t right about that whole process. at the register i looked and they they had a good score. i cant remember exactly what it was, but it was at least 99 i think. the hot stuff was good, but i`m just sayin. sumpin ain`t right.
But it is documented and
But it is documented and sometimes reported by you why the points were taken off. Please don't try to hurt local restaurants any more than they already are. Make sure you give both sides of the story. Support locally owned restaurants!!
