CHAPEL HILL, NC (AP) — Brielle Blaire scored 20 points as Salisbury routed East Bladen 76-44 to win the Class 2-A North Carolina High School Athletic Association women’s championship.

Jessica Heilig added 16 points and nine rebounds, Olivia Rankin 14 points, Ashia Holmes had 10 points and 10 boards, and Ayanna Holmes added eight points and 11 assists for the Hornets (27-1). It was Salisbury’s third straight 2-A title and fourth since 2004.

Jazmine Kemp had 12 points and Courtney Melvin 10 for the Eagles (30-2), who lost to Salisbury in last year’s final.

Blaire was the game’s most valuable player and scored 12 points in the first half as the Hornets jumped out to a 39-26 lead at the break.

Salisbury pulled away in the second half behind a defense that forced 27 turnovers.
