WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It’s starting to look a lot like the Azalea Festival.

The founder of Encore Azaleas delivered azaleas for the garden at the World’s Largest Rotary Wheel at Greenfield Lake this morning. Wilmington’s Rotary Club, the Cape Fear Garden Club and other groups will plant the 234 azaleas this weekend.

The Rotary Wheel is part of this year’s Azalea Garden Tour. The ribbon cutting for the tour will be across the street at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater Friday, April 8.

“That very morning we will have the ribbon cutting and our Cape Fear Garden Club Azalea Bells will be here, the Summerall Guards will be here, the Azalea Festival celebrities, the Queen will cut our ribbon,” Garden Tour chair Gayle Ward said.

You can watch the Azalea Garden Tour Ribbon Cutting live right here on WWAY NewsChannel 3, your official Azalea Festival station. For more information on the festival visit http://www.azaleafestival.com.
