  • Adios Wilmington

Why not Ricky Meeks?! Look at the rest of the arrogant crooks running things in Wilmington these days. It’s the honest truth! I was raised in Wilmington, and have seen the changes for sure. It’s so sad to see the way things are in Wilmington now. I’m glad to have gotten the heck out while my family still had a chance! At least Ricky Meeks is friendly to people, and people KNOW who he is! Can’t be any worse than those idiots in office right now—especially Jason Thompson! Talk about a sack of something. He’s one of them!

  • Guest

Jon David is my worst nightmare! I went out and worked for him but he and some of his staff are arrogant! My idea of a public servant is someone whom wants to help us instead of wasting our tax dollars trying a case that he has proof that won’t be a case! He is so full of himself GOD help those of us under his throne!

  • Rosegardennc

Ricky Meeks! No doubt about it! He’s approachable, has common sense, and truly has the welfare of Wilmington in his heart!

  • Francine DeCoursey

SUS HAMILTON has my VOTE FOR BEST POLITICIAN. Over the years, I have watched her as
she visits every community, learns their issues, does her research, weighs both sides fairly,
and comes up with a smart strategy as a WIN-WIN for all. Not many can claim the innate
ability to understand both sides…but as a true DEMOCRAT raised in a Republican family,
SUSI has been ‘listening to both sides’ her entire life.

She has gained immeasurable experience in her work as a City Planner, with DARE, in
economic development, historic preservation, etc…and is a strong, outspoken, articulate
woman with a passion and a purpose to better the lives of everyone in her district..
in her town..indeed in her world. HANDS DOWN…SUSI HAMILTON FOR BEST POLITICIAN!

  • Guest

She was only rep in local delegation to support the tax and spend wilmington city council.
Hamilton supports their desire for more land grabs and forced annexation.
Hamilton supports their tax and spend policy.
Hamilton supported taxpayer money for the Gravely and MS McColl
Suzi Q is just another saffo tag along-which we cant afford and no longer want.
QUITE THE CONTRARY SHE IS HIGHLY PARTISAN AND is part of the ultra liberal crowd. She may be a nice person but she is absolutely terrible in these changing times for our community

  • Nancy

    Susi Hamilton!!!

  • Guest

My VOTE is for Ricky…at least he never gets elected! And besides don’t you spell it TOM??!?!

  • Guest

There should be no question. Thom Goolsby of course!!

  • Guest

Forget Lebron, Wade and Chris , can we draft Sheen and Thompson for city council this year. We bring Thompson back and we add Sheen-he doesnt have a job right now but maybe he could come to wilmington?
At least city council would be a bit funny inspite of the fact they are bankrupting us in so many ways. Just think about it—–please

  • Guest

We have media like wway3 and the few good politocs we have are subjected to sleaze attacks from nut cases and this station. No wonder we have the likes of the cast of characters on city council-tomey-padget-sheridan-saffo and the other boys and girls. Thank heaven for some new blood-they may not last long but at least we will have an improvement for a little while. Transparency-no to the arts using our money- a budget on line- a willingness to take on special interests–not the clowns on city council- I’d take the county leaders anyday–and that includes thompson

  • Joanna Brinson

    Without a doubt—- GOOLSBY!!!!!

  • Guest

With all due respect to the ladies-let’s be fair. On all the points you mention let’s give credit where credit is dserved. On all the points you folks make we can add the Convention Center, the Gravely/McColl gift and our very own SKYWAY GOLD PLATED BRidge to the list of Saffo accomplishments. The ladies have done their share, but if we are really fair and objective Saffo take the case-along with other things.

  • guest

Here is a local politico who is tied in with developers-and has supported the wilmington agenda for more taxes and spending and Hamilton supports more forced annexation. She has accomplished nothing-Ok maybe that is what qualifies her for best in show?

  • J. Locke

Pantano… Actually, I’d like to see a libertarian get elected.. That would be very interesting…

  • Guestin

There isn’t one they are all lyers and two face people.

  • Guest

Amen! I think they’re all snakes in the grass that just tell us what they think we want to hear to get elected.

  • Guest007

I always get a good laugh every time he opens his big mouth.

  • guesty

If you don’t know how great jason is, just ask him. He will tell you he is the best and if you don’t agree with him, step out to the parking lot with him.

  • Guest

First I think that if you are conducting a meeting …TURN OFF YOUR CELL PHONES and NO TEXTING during the meeting! If you can’t be there 100%, STEP DOWN!
And For Jason Thomas to be a minister…He really needs to ACT like one. I am soooo discusted with how he acts and talks to people. GROW UP! Act Like a Minister and not an immiture baby. Be the council member you were elected to be ….meaning answer your phone, show up for meetings. (even on saturdays) Once again, if it’s to much for you….STEP DOWN.
Now for the “No Money for an Arts Council”…. then Don’t go golfing on a County Gov. Issued Credit Cards (When in Ral. for meetings) Don’t drive the county cars to these meetings and then keep the cars for an extra week before you turn them back in. And if you STOP PAYING to have your carpets cleaned out of the counties money, there might be enough $$$$ for an Arts Council.
Now all of this is hear say. But Mr. Barfield wants TRANSPARENCY in the School Board… Better yet, Lets START with the COUNTY COMISSIONERS First. Like I said…this is all hear say… but worth looking into. huh.?

What’s the next poll going to be, best STD?

This list blows any of David Letterman’s list out of the water. Awesome job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Guest2020

Love your list. When I lived in Wilmington I always voted for Ricky.

  • Guest

What jobs will the created when the city gives thousands of dollars to the art council?

  • Guest 4321

None of them. They are talking about adding another state senator for our area. We have enough idiots in Raleigh. How about sinking that money into education or infrastructure, rather than to another politician

  • GuestLee

Better grab your Huggies on the way out the door to the parking lot!

  • Guest2020

But wouldn’t you have to be a cretin to have an opinion of him? After all we non-veterans don’t have a right to question the USS Gravely spending.

  • guesty

Yes, those that have not served are below thompson. Even if you didn’t have the opportunity to serve due to medical issues such as diabetes, epilepsy or vision you are still below him. I wonder why thompson couldn’t hack a full career in the military. He might be too soft. He is great and we are soooooo lucky to have him.

  • guesty

True, thompson might need a pair.

  • Guest

Oh no, guesty – he didn’t pursue a full career in the military because he believes in term limits!!! :-)

  • Howard

Corruption. That’s primarily all we see within the government.Regardless of the governing body, whether it be Federal,State or local.Corruption.North Carolinians have corrupt politicians running out of our noses.Every time I say the word Politician I get this sick taste on my lips, you know – like I just vomited.I wouldnt trust a politician to show the way to the nearest johnnyhouse.NC seems to be a mirror image of Washington DC.

  • Not Politically Correct

There is a favorite? Maybe the question ought to be who is the least corrupt or most?

  • Guest2020

Love your responses. The DMV in Brunswick County is better over all except for the fella you have to see to get an exemption for the emissions test. He only does that from 8-10. If you are working those hours then you are out of luck.

  • Guest

I thought Goolsby until he thought spending $100,000 on commemorative signs for a highway was a good idea in this economy.
He did this in his first 60+ days in office; imagine what he can do with the balance of his time in office.
    I voted wrong. Sorry folks

  • Denbrin

When the signs need replacing, he wants them replaced with language honoring the USMC. Most people who oppose that think that he wants to remove perfectly good signs and replace them. Gooslby has made very good decisions so far, I hope he continues.

  • Guest

Hey what about carolyn–heck of alot better lady than hamilton for sure

  • Guest

The comment that Thom was going to spend $100K for signs for the Commemorative Highway is nonsense. He said there would be no financial impact as the signs would only be replaced with the new signs when the signage was due to be replaced during regular maintanence – not before. So the new signs would be rolled in – no extra cost!

  • PatriotMuscle

One of many reasons to RECALL Goolsby

    Money to be earmarked

HB 14: Vietnam Veterans and Beirut Memorial Signs. This bill appropriates $50,000 for the Department of Transportation to erect new signs and replace the old ones along NC Hwy 24 and US Hwy 17 directing people to the various veterans’ memorials in Jacksonville, NC. Sponsored by: George Cleveland [R] and Phillip Shepard [R]. STATUS: February 28th, re-referred to House Committee on Appropriations. EARMARK: $50,000.00.

  • Scott Pickey

Denbrin – Kevin Wuzzardo called the DOT and found out the signs Goolsby wants to post along Highway 17 are not the same signs that would be replaced when they fall into disrepair.

The DOT says if he wants to have signs along the highway with a name on them, they would have to be brand-new.

    Scott Pickey
    WWAY News Director

  • Read

I’m sorry, was is Scott Pickey that took the time to write this or was it a commentator that is just completely ignorant? OF COURSE the signs to REPLACE the old signs would have to be new brand-new, there is no such thing as old-new when it comes to replacing highway signs, they don’t peel off, scrub down, re-face, and replace used highway signs!!! If a sign comes down it gets replace with a new one, no cost difference between due to what stickers are put on the sign. Our citizens need more common sense training in high school, maybe they will have the opportunity to get that in the private schools that Sen. Goolsby and the rest of the Senate was finally able to increase.
