WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — With beautiful weather forecast, it’s sure to be a busy weekend around the region, but there’s some road work that could affect your plans.

Crews are finally back to work painting the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge. The DOT says there will be lane closures both in and out of Wilmington Mondays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those closures are scheduled to continue through may 30th.

The DOT also says to expect occasional lane closures on the bridges on College Road that run across Market Street in Wilmington. Crews will be cleaning and painting the bridges. The work and closures will happen Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

I have heard from several sources that the company painting the bridge is one of Saffo’s companies, or somehow tied to him in some way – could someone please find out and report it if so?
