WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – Walking into the new Wilmington Convention Center instantly takes you back in time. The hallways walls are covered with photographs showing the history of Downtown and the Riverfront.

But missing are any pictures depicting New Hanover County’s three beach communities, and the mayors from Wrightsville, Carolina and Kure Beaches would like to change that.

To get that done, they had to approach the Wilmington City Council last night for approval. That request then goes to the Convention Center’s Art Committee. Once that committee decides what to do, it’ll give its recommendation back to the City Council for a final decision.

The photos hanging now were picked by members of an art committee, according to local newspaper, who’s expertise is in style design and placement of historic photographs.
