WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Southeastern North Carolina has two new voices on the University of North Carolina Board of Governors.

PPD founder Fred Eshelman is one of eight people the state Senate elected to four-year terms today.

The 32-member Board of Governors is the policy-making body responsible for the supervision, management and governance of the 17 institutions in the UNC system.

Also making the list is former state representative and Transportation Secretary Thomas Harrelson of Southport.
