CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) -- Britt's Donuts is a seasonal business. They're only open in the spring and summer. Friday marked day number one of donut season in Carolina Beach.
June Wilson was one of the first to walk into Britt's Friday.
"When our friends come to see us we always come down to Britt's," Wilson said. "When my grandchildren come they always want to come to Britt's, and there's nothing like opening day."
Bobby Niven owns Britt's. When he first started working at Britt's the donuts sold for a nickel apiece. Now they're 85 cents and $6.75 a dozen.
"We try to do it right every year," Nivens said. "People continue to enjoy them, and we're certainly glad to be able to have a product that people enjoy."
Scott Munroe lives in Connecticut. He said he planned his trip to Wilmington this month around the opening of Britt's Donuts.
"There's nothing like a nice, hot Britt's donut right out of the kettle with a glass of milk or cup of coffee," Munroe said.
