WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Hoggard senior guard Stilman White has accepted North Carolina’s offer to be on the Tar Heel basketball team next season. White intends to play for North Carolina next season. Then he plans to fulfill his two-year commitment for his Mormon mission. The all-state selection will then return to Chapel Hill for his final three years of eligibility.

In this age of e-mail, texting and Tweeting White informed UNC head coach Roy Williams the old fashioned way. He called Williams to give him the news.

“I had a phone conversation with Coach Williams,” White said. “I told him I was ready to be a Tar Heel. He said he was excited, and he hoped I would be able to do good things up there. This is also a huge relief for me. This whole thing has been a burden on my shoulders the last couple weeks.”

White also had official offers from UNC Wilmington, Brigham Young and Utah State.

Stilman White’s 2010-2011 statistics
26 games played
