HIGH POINT, NC (AP) — Investigators are trying to determine what caused a small plane to crash into a home in High Point, killing the pilot and the passenger.

The people in the house escaped without injury Wednesday afternoon.

The passenger has been identified as Thomas Littlejohn III of Winston-Salem, a longtime physician and investigator of clinical research trials.

Roger Littlejohn said his brother was returning from a business trip to Wilmington when the chartered plane crashed into a house near the Piedmont-Triad International Airport. The pilot’s name has not been released.

The plane was heading for Winston-Salem but was rerouted to Greensboro because of bad weather.

Thomas Littlejohn was president and medical director of PMG Research, which has offices in Winston-Salem, Wilmington and seven other locations in North Carolina and Tennessee.
