BESSEMER CITY, NC (AP) — A teen now faces a first-degree
murder charge after the victim in a shooting last week in a
Bessemer City home died.
Authorities said 19-year-old Damian Prince Reid was initially
charged with attempted murder, but that charge was upgraded Tuesday
after 17-year-old William Adam Clay died in the hospital from a
gunshot wound to the back of the head.
Police say Reid shot Clay in the kitchen of Reid’s home after
the two had some kind of dispute. They didn’t release any
Reid was arrested at the home. He remains in jail without bail.
It wasn’t immediately clear if he had an attorney.
