WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — It was lights, camera, action today in Columbus County. The cast and crew of the movie “Hick” set up to film in historic downtown Whiteville.

South Madison Street was blocked off and transformed with classic cars and actors dressed in southern attire.

Businesses in the area say they have seen an increase in business since the film crew first arrived.

“They’ve come in, they’ve got rags, they’ve got spray bottles, everything to glaze the windows to put the antique finish on the buildings across the street,” said Ransom Ivey, who works at Sherwin Williams paint in Whiteville. “They have actually whitened the windows to make them look like, you know like they’re in the ’80s.”

The movie “Hick” is expected to be released in 2012.
