WILMINGTON, NC (NEWS RELEASE) – The city’s downtown on-street parking will be free starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 8, and all day on Saturday, April 9 for Azalea Festival activities.
Parking enforcement for on-street spaces will be suspended in the Central Business District, which extends from
Ann to Red Cross streets and from Water to 4th streets. On-street parking is always free on Sundays.
Signs will be posted to alert visitors about the free parking.
On Saturday and Sunday, there will be a $5 fee to park in the Second Street Deck, the Market Street Deck and the county parking deck located beside the library, as well as the Hannah Block lot next to the Community Arts Center on Second Street.
The city’s parking lot located at Second and Market streets will not be available for parking because festival events are being held on the lot.
Private lots and decks Several private parking lots and decks are operated within the city. These lots are privately owned and operated. The city has made an effort to make sure these lots are adequately marked with signage, but many of these lots do not offer free parking.
