BLADENBORO, NC (WWAY) — Governor Bev Perdue came to Bladen County to witness the damage herself. She says right now, 22 are confirmed dead and 80 more are seriously injured in the state.
The governor says the main issues in Bladen County is what to do with all of the debris and short-term housing for victims.
Perdue has declared a state of emergency for the state.
“The feds will quickly declare North Carolina a federal disaster,” Perdue said. “We’ve already talked this morning to the President and the first lady and they share their concerns and their prayers, and secondly they tell us whatever we need, we’ll get.”
