COLERAIN, NC (AP) — Officials in the North Carolina county that was hit hardest by the weekend storm system say 67 homes weredestroyed.

Bertie County Manager Zee Lamb said Monday that tax assessors who have surveyed the damaged also found 20 other damaged homes. Some farmers also suffered crop damage. The county says the assessed loss totals about $2.5 million. Some residents are working to clean up their properties and salvage any usable items.

Authorities have said that the storm in Bertie County on Saturday killed 11 people, accounting for about half of the state’s fatalities.
