Wilmington race car driver revs up for new season

WILMINGTON,NC (WWAY) -- T.J. Barron was born to sit behind the wheel of a car. He started racing as a youngster and hasn't stopped since. "It's an expensive hobby." Barron said. "I've been doing it since I was ten years old. I started racing at the Fireball Raceway in Leland."

Barron wins more often that not. The Wilmington resident definitely has a knack for finding victory lane. Last year in just his third season racing a limited late model car Barron captured the track championship at the Coastal Plains Raceway in Onslow County. "I had ten poles out of 16 starts and 9 wins. Barron said. "I broke the track record for consecutive wins in a season and I won the season championship as well."

This year T.J.Barron is stepping up to a limited touring season. The schedule is listed below:

April 30th -- Coastal Plains Raceway
July 2nd -- Dillon Motor Speedway
September 17th -- Anderson Motor Speedway
October 8th -- Ace Speedway
October 22nd -- Coastal Plains Raceway
November 6th - Florence Motor Speedway
November 19th - Myrtle Beach Speedway
