WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Unemployment dropped in 99 of North Carolina’s 100 county’s in March, including all five in our area, according to data from the Employment Security Commission.

Overall unemployment in the Wilmington metro area dropped 0.7 points from February to 9.7 percent, which is the same as the state rate.

Brunswick County saw the biggest decrease a full point to 10.9 percent.

Columbus county was down 0.8 points of a point to 12 percent.

Bladen dropped 0.7 points to 11.4.

New Hanover is the only area county doing better than the state as a whole. It fell half a point to 9.0 percent.

And Pender County dipped 0.4 points to 10.2 percent.
