WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — If you happened to drive past Chick-Fil-A on Ooleander drive, you might have seen something strange on the roof. The fourth annual Cops on Top fundraiser literally had cops on top of the restaurant.

Several law enforcement agencies joined forces on the roof and in the drive-thru asking customers for donations to benefit the Special Olympics of North Carolina.

The cops and Chick-Fil-A say they have a great relationship and help each other raise money for many other events.

“They are our partners and our friends,” Chick-Fil-A Marketing Director Barbara Croll said. “We partner with them and help them at UNCW with the Special Olympic games, and they come out and partner with us to raise money with the Special Olympics.”

Last year Cops on Top raised more than $4,000. This year the cops plan to top that amount.

The Cops on Top fundraiser continues Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Hey To Our Local Law Enforcement Officers~

I just read this article and am so PROUD of you! Thank you for doing this for Special Olympics again.

I used to work with special needs folks before FUNDING was cut so drastically and agencies eventually closed their doors, leaving people who were most in need of support services doing without.

I want you to know that you have done something for this community that we love so much, for people that we love so much.

Bless You!
