WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A New Hanover County student’s artwork could soon be seen by millions online.

Google visited Anderson Elementary today to congratulate Joseph Miller. He is one of the 40 finalists in the “Doodle 4 Google” contest. The fourth grader’s doodle was picked from more than 100,000 applicants.

If selected, it would mean a $15,000 scholarship for Joseph and a $25,000 grant for his school.

“He’s a very deserving young man, and we would be so proud to have his doodle represent us here at Anderson,” principal Carole Piner said. “The technology grant would be phenomenal. It would be another way for us to deliver quality technology education to our students.”

Later this month Joseph will travel to New York City, where the winner will be announced. The winning doodle will be on Google’s homepage May 20.
