BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — It looks like a happy ending for the dogs at the Pender County Animal Shelter.

We told you yesterday that all the dogs in the shelter needed a home by today, or they would be euthanized. Shelter workers say of the 33 dogs they had, 31 have been fostered or adopted. No word yet on what will happen to the other two.

Shelter manager Darlene Clewis says all of the outdoor kennels are now demolished, and the shelter is moving forward with construction. The staff hopes to have everything up and running again in about three to four months.

i was happy to adopt one of the dogs that went from Pender to Topsail humane society on Sunday. He is an adorable Plott hound mix.

i would like to thank everyone that helped our shelter.

it means a lot when everyone can work together to save 30 plus dogs…i would also like to than adopt an angel and pear(pender endangered animal rescue) for supporting our efforts to save these animals….

    great job

All I can say is THANK YOU to the persons who opened their hearts & homes to those dogs. My prayers have been answered. BTW I think the 2 that were left found homes also…
