I wonder if Ron was picked for a pat-down at ILM?

  • that guy says:

wonder if he called the UNCW escorts??? HAHA!!!

  • Guest421 says:

If so, hope it was not a female that did it.

Is the fact that this weirdo is here supposed to make us proud? Wow, what have we sunk to? We need news. Real news.

….right up there wilth “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” or “Plan 9 From Outer Space.” Who knew that we’d wind up filming soft-core porn that appeals to teenage boys, right here in Wilmington?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. It’s because we need more taxpayer funded subsidies, right? “Give us more money and we’ll make another “How the West Was Won.”

  • Guest Apu says:

Don’t be knocking “plan 9,” it a classic! It’s so bad, that you can’t stop watching. Kind of like a train wreck! It’s a must-see for all aspiring film students to show what pitfalls to avoid. Gotta love an untentional comedy.

How nice for Wilmywood to get this nice, wholesome, family-oriented entertainment! Keep ‘em coming!

OMG just look at him he makes my skin crawl.. and Hasseloff really isn’t much better…one movie I won’t be seeing

So, everyone complains that there isn’t enough of a film presence in Wilmington. Now, he’s a sequel to a mildly successful (if intentionally campy) film. Its a film that is going to get a national release which is more than can be said for the extremely low budget indie flicks that Wilmington has been pumping out as of late.

I feel that this film being made here is fitting. “Hollywood East” was built on low budget genre films throughout the 80s. No one is ever going to compare Cats Eye, Firestarter or Maximum Overdrive to Gone With The Wind. Those are the films that made Wilmington have a place in the film industry, and it’s those types of films that will make sure Wilmington has a filmic future.

    So, stop complaining.

not that long ago when Julia Roberts, John Travolta, Dennis Hopper, Anthony Hopkins, Arnold and other big name stars graced the area while making movies in Wilmington.

With the exception of The Rock & Andy Griffith, who have we had in the past few years?

Those tax incentives sure are working.

Pee Wee Herman is probably rushing to get a part so he can visit that downtown alternate lifestyle club so recently featured in the news.

  • Guestfellini says:

Due to the $1 million salary cap on the state film incentives, this is the type of production we are “lucky” to get: the C- and D-list stars, TV movies and product-placement commercials. Your tax dollars at work…just barely.

  • Commonsensenotcommontoday says:

….would claim that it was because the taxpayer funded incentives aren’t large enough!

These “filmy people” will not be satisfied until every single aspect of movie-making is totally tax free. “We’re special!”

  • Guest Apu says:

Excuse me sir, is that a _______ in your pocket?
