WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County Regional Medical Center may soon have a change in management.
Hospital officials held a town hall meeting tonight to discuss implications of a proposed agreement with Carolinas Healthcare Systems to take over day-to-day operations.
Jack Barto, the president and CEO of NHRMC says the agreement with the Charlotte-based company would not affect patients or employees.
“Patients won’t notice anything,” said Barto. “They’re still going to see the same great care they get everyday, but interestingly enough, if we do have an issue, we now have peers that we can pick up the phone and call and say ‘how are you doing it up there?’ and go see how they’re doing it. No, this should be completely transparent to the employees and completely transparent to the patients.”
Barto will make a shorter version of the presentation during Monday’s County Commission meeting. Commissioners, who must approve the leasing changes for the hospital, will have a public hearing on the agreement June 6.
