Cameron Art Museum announces matching challenge grant up to $1M

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Some exciting news was spread throughout the Cameron Art Museum Monday night during their annual meeting.

The event was open to all donors, members and the public. The museum recently opened its new exhibit, “State of the Art, Art of the State” which includes artwork from local artists and artists across the state of North Carolina.

Attendees heard various testimonials and presentations from various workshop participants, museum supporters and programming staff.

Chairman of the museum’s board of trustees, Frances Goodman, also made a special announcement in honor of the museum’s tenth anniversary approaching in June 2012.

“The Bruce Barkley Cameron Foundation has issued a matching challenge grant of a million dollars,” said Goodman. “And so any money that is donated to the museum between now and june 30, 2012 will be matched dollar for dollar up to a million dollars.”

The money raised during this matching gift challenge will be used to strengthen the museum, its partnerships and its educational, special and public programs.
