GREENSBORO, NC (AP) — Police in Greensboro say a worker from Georgia has died and another has been critically injured after they fell while dismantling a Ferris wheel at the close of a six-day carnival.
Investigators said 42-year-old Michael Douglas Cook, of Columbus, GA, was killed in the accidental fall shortly before 2 a.m. Monday.
The name of the injured man has not been released.
The annual Greensboro Youth Council carnival took place this year in the parking lot of the Greensboro Coliseum. It started May 10 and ended Sunday afternoon.
The carnival rides for the event were owned by James H. Drew Exposition, of Augusta, GA. The company did not immediately respond to messages Monday.
