I GUEST THEY DONT CARE HOW

I GUEST THEY DONT CARE HOW LONG THOSE CHILDREN HAVE TO STAY BUS. I AM REALLY THINKING ABOUT SENDING MY CHILDREN PENDER COUNTY NEXT YEAR. THIS BOE DONT GIVE D N ABOUT CHILDREN OR THE COMMUNITY.NOW MORE TEACHERS OUT LOOKING FOR JOBS. KEEP BULIDING NEW SCHOOLS FUTHER WAY FROM CITY TO CLOSE DOWN THE INNER CITY SCHOOL. NEW HANOVER HIGH SCHOOL,WILLISTON,GREGORY,AND SUNSET LOOK OUT BOE WANTS ALL CHILDREN OUT OF CITY AREA. ASK THEM HOW FAR THEIR CHILDREN GO FROM HOME.

I was wondering how long it

I was wondering how long it was going to take before the race card was played. All else fails, pull out the race card. Before you put a comment on here, get the full story of why they are closing the school, their plans for Virgos future, and what options are giving to the parents. TV3 only reported the closing and nothing more. O'shields and Redenbaugh are going to make it appear it is the end of the world, with a little help from former BOE, Nick Rhodes. The school board wants our kids to get the best education possible. Come on TV3, report the story and not what you hear from someone else.

Come on TV3 get with the program

The old saying goes "Bad news spreads faster than Good news". That seems to be how you try to get people to watch your station. None of your reporters were at the meeting. You did not get all the information, you just threw something on the air to try and beat WECT, which did report most of it correctly. Try getting your reporters to talk to the BOE and find out the reason behind the way they voted before you put something on the air.

Irony

Ironic how some school board members campaigned and fought so hard for neighborhood schools, yet are willing to close this neighborhood school. Couldn't possibly do with the demographics of the school? High minority, high poverty? Must not have been one of the schools they were thinking about with those neighborhood school promises...

The arrogance and smugness of the NHCBOE "old guard" is the main reason my children will not attend NHCS. Not until NHC decides to go in a better, positive and forward direction with the NHCBOE leadership.

This is not really news, I

This is not really news, I thinks most people already knew the BOE had planned to close this school anyway but now they will say it must be closed because of cutbacks in their budget. Cavenaugh and Hayes were on the one of the morning talk shows right after it was rumored that Virgo would be closed and both sat there and said there were no plans to close this school. I don't have any children in the school system and I don't really care if they close it or not but what I do care about is elected officials, in this case BOE members, getting on the radio and misleading the public about something they knew they were going to do all along. That is wrong!!!!

Virgo closing

God bless the Virgo teachers. My hat goes off to you and all that you do each and everyday. I hope that you all get placed where you want! I do question WHy the board announced the closing on the week of EOG testing? Do you think that this announcement may impact the students' effort?
