WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — With budget cuts looming, private donations are as important as ever to Cape Fear Community College.

Today, business and community leaders attended the CFCC Foundation’s annual Gift of Education fundraising luncheon. Organizers said the seventh annual event raised awareness of the importance of supporting and strengthening our state’s community college system. Perhaps most importantly the event raised about $180,000.

“All of the money we raise today is going to go back in the form of student support, and we help them with scholarships as well as books and other fees that come up from time to time,” CFCC Foundation Board Chair Bill Anlyan said.

Several scholarship recipients shared their stories of how CFCC Foundation scholarships have changed their lives and given them access to education that otherwise may have been out of reach.
