WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — More than 50 artists from around the southeast are showcasing their work, everything from pottery to paintings, at this year’s Orange Street ArtsFest.
The 16th annual festival is a way to celebrate all kinds of art. Vendors who sell scissor-cuttings, sculptures, ornaments, jewelry and more set up in Downtown Wilmington to sell their goods, while their booth fees go toward helping the Thalian Association fund their annual shows.
Pat Goodman with the Orange Street Pottery Group said art is one of life’s beautiful gifts.
“It’s a wonderful way to escape from the day to day routine and see something beautiful or something that evokes some emotion that you might not normally have in a day to day life,” Goodman said. “It gives interest and variety and sometimes comfort and sometimes just thought-provoking.”
The Thalian Association puts on six shows per year, and their children’s group also performs six times annually.
The festival is going on Saturday from 10 in the morning to six in the evening, and Sunday from 10 a.m. to five p.m.
