Sharks season starts Tuesday night

WILMINGTON,NC (WWAY) — Tuesday is opening night at the Shark Tank. Thursday is “WWAY Shirt off the Back Night”. With these games rapidly approaching we figured it was time to get an up close and personal look at this year’s team. Click play video in order to meet the Sharks and this year’s head coach.

The Wilmington Sharks are members of Coastal Plain League, the nation’s hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 15th season, the league features 15 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer. The CPL has had over 800 alumni drafted and 44 alums make their Major League debut thus far. These kids are playing for free a game they love and with the closest baseball available is Myrtle BEach or Kinston for Carolina League action or Johnston County for AA Mudcats. Its great family night out really cheap to see possible future pro players..
