WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — This afternoon two pieces of the World Trade Center will arrive in the Port City to become parts of monuments to the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks. One monument will sit at Cape Fear Community College. The other will be at the Wilmington Fire Department’s new station at Empie Park.

CFCC interior design students developed the plan for the WFD’s monument (photos).

The pieces of the WTC will arrive at Independence Mall around 2 p.m. We’ll have more on WWAY NewsChannel 3 starting at 5 p.m.
