PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Pender County schools superintendent Allison Sholar has resigned to take a job as the superintendent of Currituck County Schools.

School board member Tom Roper says that Sholar will be a huge loss for the county, but they fully support her in her move. Roper says that Sholar has about 90 days left in her contract with the school system, and that her last day will be September 13.

The county will use the State School Board Association in their search for a new superintendent.

Sholar was named superintendent in 2007.

and current events you would know

  • glad says:

Did anyone notice that she replaced all the men with women when she got her job here?

  • concerned Parent says:

I totally agree that it was time for her to go! What she did at Monday nights meeting just proved how shallow and vindictive she is! All I can say is GOOD LUCK to the next school system that gets her! As for us all we want to say is BYE BYE!

  • Curt Westwood says:

She needed to go. The s*** was getting ready to hit the fan. She acts on impulse, holds grudges, and makes bad decisions. She seems to have this thing against men and only looks to promote females. Just look at the central office! One thing that gets her in trouble is that she listens to her associate superintendent too much (she basically calls the shots for Sholar) who is very vindictive. The board never investigates how badly she treats employees. They just listen to her and bury their heads in the sand. Morale among teachers and administration is very low right now as a result.

  • SurfCityTom says:

the negative reation of some locals who wanted to “throw a dog into the fight” and a sometimes intrusive County Commission, it’s no wonder she sought other opportunities.

    She’s staying in Hurricane Country.

And she’s moving to a district with much newer facilities.

  • SurfTownUSA says:

What’s this “Throw a dog into the fight” about. I’m missing something please explain.

  • Curt Westwood says:

I am sure everyone knows that the principal of Topsail High got reinstated. Did the board finally realize that she was just trying to ruin another administrator’s career? Her career is the one that needs to be ruined. When she screws with administrators, she screws with kids’ futures. The board will let her go before she is supposed to go, because she is incompetent. She needs to go now. Currituck, look out!
