WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover Sheriff’s Office is clarifying new security measure at county commission meetings. This is an update to a story you saw FIRST ON 3 yesterday.

Sheriff’s spokesman Cpl. Jerry Brewer says there will not be as many deputies at future meetings as yesterday. Brewer says there were six deputies this week to make sure the new system worked and to cover an alternative handicap entrance.

He says in the future, everyone will come through the same entrance to go through the new metal detector, which will limiting the need for as many officers.
