BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A former Brunswick County School Board member is running to get his old office back. And for the second time, he’s changed parties.

Ray Gilbert served one term on the school board as a Republican. When he lost the Republican primary in 2008, he ran in the general election as a Libertarian.

Now Gilbert has entered next year’s race for the school board’s District 1 seat as a Democrat.

Gilbert lost a race for County Commission last year as a Libertarian.

In December 2007, a judge issued a protective order banning the then School Board member from county schools after a school secretary said he threatened her. Fellow board members later called for his resignation.
