16-year-old found shot to death in Wilmington


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- A 16-year-old boy is dead after a shooting in Wilmington.

According to a news release, Wilmington Police officers responding to a report of a shooting found the victim lying on the front porch of a house in the 900 block of N. 5th Avenue. The victim was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

A police spokeswoman says there are no additional details this early in the investigation. The victim's identity is being withheld until family members are notified.

Two shootings on the Northside in less than two days. Both happened before 10:00 p.m. Don't tell me that most of the crime in our city happens after the bars let out.
